Earnewâld is a cozy water sports village located between Leeuwarden and Drachten in the middle of National Park De Alde Feanen, a vast low moorland swamp area in the heart of Friesland. Very popular with nature and water sports enthusiasts. Compared to the Frisian lakes in southwestern Friesland, it’s nice and quiet but there’s lots to do! Earnewâld has several major events during the summer vacations such as the annual fair and one of Friesland’s most famous events the ‘skûtsjesilen’. Earnewâld is stage location and participant in the annual sailing competition with the former cargo ships. The narrow waterways on which the race is sailed at Earnewâld guarantees spectacular images.

National Park De Alde Feanen is also very well known for its wonderful canoeing and SUP opportunities. Portions of the nature reserve are accessible exclusively by canoe and SUP.
