You can bike beautifully in and around National Park the Alde Feanen.  There are routes that require several ferry crossings, you can visit an observation tower or visit several bird-watching huts.

But you can also explore the “Wâlden” from Earnewâld. This is a beautiful sheltered and tree-lined coulisse landscape northeast of Earnewâld.  Toward the southwest you will find an open and pristine old Frisian meadowland. Opportunities abound!

 

To get you started, below are two scenic cycling routes.

The ferry route (45 km.).

This bike route leads through National Park De Alde Feanen over the island de Bird towards Grou, then via Akkrum, Pean and de Veenhoop back towards Earnewâld. Along the way, you have to cross by ferry 4 times. In the bike route app you will find information on fares and sailing times. The bike route takes you through part of National Park De Alde Feanen and through beautiful quiet open Frisian meadowland. You can also use the bicycle junction network in addition to the app, the numbers are. The Northern Forest Route (30 KM.).

The ancient cultural landscape of the Noardlike Fryske Wâlden (Northern Frisian Woods) is beautiful and designated as a National Landscape. The characteristic features are the alder sedges, wooded banks and pingoes. Nowhere in Europe can such an extraordinarily beautiful coulisse landscape be found. Farmers at the time created the rows of trees around the pastures as cattle fencing. This bicycle route passes the villages of Garyp, de Tike, Eastermar and Sumar. In addition to the app, you can also use the bicycle junction network, the numbers are.
