Bluegrass Johanna’s Mountain Boys
Johanna’s Mountain Boys consists of five musicians who found each other in their shared love of bluegrass music. They mostly met at picking parties. At one of those jam sessions, a very special jam emerged, after which it was decided to continue it in a domestic setting. The rest is history. Johanna’s Mountain Boys had their first joint rehearsal on March 17, 2024. The band’s first performance took place on August 31, 2024 at the Noorderzon festival in Groningen. Since then, the band has had many gigs and enjoys playing on a wide variety of stages.
Every band has its own heroes, and so does Johanna’s Mountain Boys. Don’t be surprised to hear songs by the Johnson Mountain Boys, the Gibson Brothers, the Lonesome River band or John Reischman during the band’s concerts. The repertoire of Johanna’s Mountain Boys consists of a mixture of traditional and modern bluegrass, alternating fast and slow songs. During a concert of Johanna’s Mountain Boys, hidden gems of international bluegrass pass by. And every band is indebted to Bill Monroe, so a single song by the “Father of Bluegrass” is never missing.
