For the sporty recreational bicycle(t)er, April and May are the months of bicycle tours in Fryslân. The Princenhof Tour on King’s Day is now among the Frisian spring classics.

The Princenhoftocht guarantees a sporty day out, with beautiful routes. The 100-kilometer tour takes you through the most beautiful meadows, the forests of the Frisian forests and, of course, past beautiful water areas. If you prefer to cycle a shorter distance, there is a beautiful 50-kilometer route set out from Earnewâld. This scenic route passes through the nature reserves around Earnewâld, De Leyen and the Bergumermeer. In short, guaranteed to be a great bike party for everyone. We make sure you have a great day with great care along the way and a great atmosphere at the start and finish. Everyone is welcome: young and old, cyclists, pedal assisted or not, and steppers. You can choose from distances of 50 and 100 kilometers, both wonderful routes on quiet and safe roads. For many participants, this tour is the ultimate preparation for the Elfmeren bicycle tour (dd. 4/5/24) and Bicycle Felfstedentocht (Pinstermaandag, dd. 20/5/24).
Traditions
The Princenhof Tour is traditionally held on King’s Day. That means this year’s march will be organized on Saturday, April 27. So a special day. As in previous editions, there are again two start and finish locations. Hotel Princenhof in Earnewâld and Hotel Restaurant De Stripe in Wijnjewoude. Once again this year we have set out two beautiful routes. A 100-kilometer route (with start and finish in Earnewâld and Wijnjewoude) and a 50-kilometer route (with Earnewâld as the starting location and Paviljoen De Leyen as a nice stopping place. Halfway along both routes is a stamping post where you can go for a cup of coffee, delicious pastries and also lunch. For the 100-kilometer trip, this is Hotel Princenhof (address: Piet Miedemaweg 15, 9264 TJ Earnewâld) and Hotel & Restaurant De Stripe (address: Duerswâld 23, 9241 GW Wijnjewoude). For the 50 kilometer trek, this is Paviljoen De Leyen (address: Bildreed 3, 9221 SJ Rottevalle).
