Open Monument Day Earnewâld

14 September

Earnewâld doarp fan wyn en wetter Tytsjerksteradiel is putting Earnewald (Eernewoude) in the spotlight in 2024. This oldest village in the municipality is located in the middle of extensive reed, and marsh areas. Life in this remote village took place by and on the water. The Wijde Ie used to teem with prams and skûtsjes. Today, it is pleasure boats of all shapes and sizes that define the cheerful picture here. At the tiny museum It Kokelhûs, you can see how people used to live here. Or take a look inside one of the old churches. At the Skûtsjemuseum you imagine yourself on board the skipper with his family. What wasn’t involved in getting a load of manure or peat across safely? And of course, on this Open Monument Day you can sail as in the past along “monuments” of Earnewald’s past. Before you board , check out the exhibit “Touched” , the story of the downed Lancaster. Or sail with a guide from It Fryske Gea right through the Alde Feanen? Saturday, September 14, is Open Monument Day in Earnewâld. You are welcome between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information: www.openmonumentendag.nl/tytsjerksteradiel
