Music Twirre

Muzyk Twirre performs Sunday afternoon, July 7, and performs Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Kinks, etc., among others, in a completely unique way.

A whirlwind – twirre in it Frysk – often reveals itself as a funnel-shaped trunk under a thunderstorm cloud. Sometimes it contains objects that were sucked up during the trip across the ground. Windstorms are a special natural phenomenon that have been occurring since the beginning of time.

The band Twirre is also special, and it has only been around since early 2009. It began with Roelof Koopmans as singer/guitarist. He performed alone at first, but soon Roelof managed to raise additional band members in his Twirre. Initially it was Tim Kuilman on keys, later Jurrien Binnerts for vocals and lastly Bart van Overveld joined the band for bass work.

Twirre performs English-language covers and Frisian-language original work. The lyrics are taken from life and the band performs the songs as a sensitive and beautiful whole. The lyrics of the own work are Roelof’s own and then take their final form in consultation with the band. With lyrics straight from the heart and four passionate musicians, it is always worth coming to hear this ravishing music.
