Experience Sailing Like The Past during the Excursion ‘Get Lost with Stories’
Did you know that in the past on skûtsjes and barges, the sailing boom was used to push the ship forward when there was no wind? Just as in the old days when the engine did not exist, we are now going back to basics: everything on wind power without engine use unless there really is no other way*.
* There may be times one evening when there is no wind at all. Then the excursion will take place in an electric sloop. Why? Because we like to be mindful of nature. And like to choose the most sustainable experience.
The best part? You get to work! Like the old days, you are put to work hoisting the sails and keeping the ship on course. So you can experience for yourself how sustainable boating used to be – and still can be today.

Enjoy the relaxing and active tour of the picturesque waters of De Alde Feanen. Let the soothing sounds of nature wash over you. And let Age Veldboom take you along with his wonderful stories about this varying landscape.
Halfway through the trip we disembark and you can explore remote places by canoe that you would not normally encounter. Using an inspiration map in the canoe, you’ll also learn all about the biodiversity of De Alde Feanen National Park. Which is not for nothing called one of the most beautiful wetlands in Western Europe.
This evening, let yourself be amazed and have your senses stimulated as you get lost in the wilderness of De Alde Feanen. Delicious snacks are provided on board, of course from Frisian local produce.
